Founded by Sir C V Raman in 1948, Raman Research Institute is located to the north of
Bangalore. It offers research in selected areas of physics and astronomy, including electronics, liquid crystals, theoretical physics, and astrophysics. The Institute has a number of laboratories to support the various research and developmental activities. Other facilities include computers, library, workshop, and canteen and guesthouse.
The institute conducts Ph D program, engineering trainee program, and technical assistant trainee program.
