Rack Railway System

Rack Railway System is a combination of locomotive cogwheel and toothed rack rail. It is meant for the railway lines on steep mountains to get normal adhesion between wheels and rail tracks. Different kinds of Rack Railway System exist. The rail track connecting Mettupalayam and Ooty operates on the Rack Railway System.
