An ancient stringed instrument, Rabab is the progenitor of several Indian instruments such as
Sarod and
Sarangi. It is commonly used in
Jammu and Kashmir. Made of wood, the instrument consists of three main strings and numerous sympathetic strings over a hollow neck and a goat skin resonator.
Seni Rabab, a famous variety of this instrument, differs from Rabab because of a large hook, which is present at the back.
