Pushpadanta

Pushpadanta is the ninth tirthankar among the 24 Jain tirthankars. He is also known by the name Suvidhinath. He was born to king Sugriva of Kakandi and Rama Devi. At first he was named Suvidhi (correct procedure). The craze of playing with flowers in childhood (during teething period) earned him the name Pushpadant (flower-tooth).

Pushpadanta attained omniscience after four months of rigorous spiritual practices and had around 88 disciples. He attained Nirvana at Samet Sikhar on the ninth day of the dark half of the month of Kartik. The emblem of Lord Pushpadanta is Dolphin.
