Purslane (Portulaca oleracea) is an herbaceous weed found in cold as well as warm areas. It belongs to the Portulacaceae family and is found through out the country.
Purslane likes open areas area including flowerbeds, cornfields and waste places. The plant is used as a refrigerant and alterative. It cures urinary diseases, diarrhea, diabetes, skin diseases, scurvy and liver diseases. It is also added in salads.
It is also known as Loni, Kulfa and Ramjota.
