Purplerumped Sunbird




Purplerumped Sunbird (Nectarinia zeylonica) is seen in deciduous biotope and gardens with flowering trees. The bird is usually seen in pairs.

Its bottom and breast are glistening metallic crimson, green and purple in color. Lower parts are yellow. It has a metallic bluish purple rump. Nectar is its main food. Nest is a suspended pouch made out of grass, rubbish and cobwebs. The nest has a lateral entrance hole near the top.
