Punnathur Kotta Elephant Sanctuary

Punathurkotta, located 4km away from Guruvayoor, is considered as one of the largest elephant parks in the world with over 60 elephants. All of them have been donated by the devotees to Lord Guruvayoorappan. It is the official stable of the temple elephants. Elephants of all ages can be seen, from very small to old ones. Around 40 domesticated elephants are groomed for the service of Lord Krishna by the temple management. The elephant race and the feast for elephants are very interesting. Forty pachyderms, used for important Guruvayoor festivals, are also housed here in style.
