Pummelo (Latin name, Citrus grandis) is a spreading, round-topped almost thorn-less tree. It is also known as Forbidden Fruit and Shaddock.
The root bark consists of ß-sitosterol, grandisinine, 5-hydroxynoracronycine, honyumine, and natsucitrine-II. The fruit has nutritive and refrigerant properties. It contains vitamins, mainly vitamin C, which has an effective antioxidant action. The seeds possess similar properties and are sometimes recognized for lumbago.
