Pratyushan Parva, a famous Jain festival, is celebrated in the Bhadra month (August-September) by the
shwetambar and the
Digambar sects of the Jain community. The Digambar sect observes this festival from the 5th day of the Bhadra month. Their ceremony comes to an end after eight days of celebration. The shwetambar celebrates the Pratyushan Parva from the 13th day of the Bhadra month and the celebration lasts for eight days. During the festival, the devotees worship the
Tirthankar and observe fast. This festival celebrates the ten cardinal virtues put forward by the great Jain saints and preachers such as charity, forgiveness, simplicity, contentment, truthfulness, self-restraint, fasting, detachment, continence and humility.
