Pradosha Nritya is a cosmic dance performed by
Lord Shiva. The word ‘pradosha’ means ‘dusk’, while ‘nritya’ means ‘dance’. As the name suggests, the lord performs this dance at twilight in the presence of
Parvati, his consort. According to Hindu mythology, this dance is performed to free his devotees from their sufferings.
So it is considered most appropriate to worship Lord Shiva during dusk. Hindus all over India usually observe a fast on the evening of Pradosha Vrata day, which falls on the 13th day of each lunar fortnight.
