Pita Maha

Pita Maha is one of the earliest known astrologers of ancient India. He is believed to have lived around 500 BC. He is credited with Pita Maha Siddhanta, a treatise on Vedic astrology. It contains the methods for calculating the slow and fast motions of planetary bodies, the retrograde motions and the combustion in the sun. This ancient book is still used by the astrologers.
