Pingala is a network of subtle channels in the human body called ‘Nadi’. Nadis are passages through which energy flows to different part of the body. It is a subtle counterpart of the blood or nervous system. Ida, Pingala and Sushumna are the important nadis, out of the fourteen principal nadis, as referred in Shiva Samhita. Pingala and Ida are placed on the right and left side of the space outside the Merudanda (spinal column). Pingala starts from the Muladhara (left testicle) and ends in the right nostril. It is the right channel, red in colour (Rudra Rupa) and related with river
Yamuna. Pingala which digests food is masculine and hot, representing the sun. Solar energy passes through the nadi. Pingala and Ida indicate Kala (time, death).
