Phaladeepika is an important book pertaining to
Vedic Astrology. It is considered second in importance only to the
Brihat Parasara Hora Sastra, the fundamental book in Indian astrology written by
Sage Parasara.
Phaladeepika was written by Sage Mantreswara during the 16th century. This monumental book contains a comprehensive scientific study of the effects caused by the transits of the various heavenly bodies. Each of the zodiac sign, planets and houses are dealt in complete detail. Other details include ‘yogas’ (planetary combinations), effect of planets on each house, effect of ancestry, female horoscope, matters concerning marital life and life span and a variety of other topics.
Phaladeepika is known for its wide coverage relating to astrology. The comprehensive and precise nature of this ancient scripture is what makes it today a widely published and translated work.
