Perini Thandavam




Perini Thandavam was a dance performed by the Kakatiya warriors before leaving to the battle field. The warriors used to perform this dance in front of the idol of Lord Shiva. Perini Thandavam is exclusively performed by men and assumes spiritual and artistic importance. The dance is accompanied by the emphatic beats of drums. The dance Perini Thandavam almost disappeared after the decline of Kakatiya dynasty . Dr Nataraja Ramakrishna (an artist) has revived the dance form.
