Pelapur

Pelapur is a village located near Chengalpattu in Kanchipuram District. This pilgrim center is about 5 km from Chengalpattu Junction Railway Station. The prime attraction here is the ancient Pelapur Temple. The Palar River flows through this village.

This village was earlier known as Palapura, during the Vijayanagar period. Pelapur later became a center of Brahmins who were experts in the study of Sanskrit and Tamil Vedas (Ubhaya Vedas).

Chengalpattu Ramakrishna Math and Chengalpattu Lake are nearby attractions.
