Peechi-Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary




Peechi-Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the catchments area of the Peechi and Vazhani dams and is 25 km east of Thrissur. It shares its boundary with the Chimmini Wildlife Sanctuary to the south and extends over an area of 125 sq km.

Tigers, Leopards and wild dogs are commonly seen and elephants and gaur are identified in the interiors. Besides, the sanctuary is also home to various species of birds and reptiles.

The best time to visit is October to March.

Cochin International Airport is the closest airport, 98 km away, and Thrissur Railway Station serves as the nearest railhead.
