Paris Peacock Butterfly




Paris Peacock (Papilio paris) is a special type of butterfly, which belongs to the family Papilionidae of order Lepidoptera. This attractive choice has black head with irradiant green scales. Abdomen and thorax are also black with irradiant green scales. The wingspan is about 9 to 14 cm. A narrow golden-greenish discal band on the upper forewing and a large greenish-blue discal patch on the upper hind wing make the insect very attractive.

Paris Peacock is distributed in the Western Ghats.
