Paranibbana Sutta is a highly revered Buddhist canonical text. It contains a detailed account of the final days of
Buddha. The text also elucidates on his teachings.
Paranibbana Sutta has been written in the ancient
Pali language. The verses were originally transferred orally. They were later compiled into the single text. The book depicts the formation of the Buddhist clan, which occurred during the final days of Buddha. Buddha, knowing the time of his death, wanted to put his preaching into practice. He delegated this duty to his close disciples. These disciples preached the new religion following the death of the master.
Verses from Paranibbana Sutta are read during the
Parinirvana Day, which marks the death of Buddha.
