Parambikulam Dam




Parambikulam Dam is located at the extreme end of Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary, in Palakkad District of Kerala. The area of water spread in the dam is 21.22 sq km and the catchment area is 228.34 sq km. Parambikulam Dam ranks in the top ten volume capacity dams in the world.

The Parambikulam Aliyar Project starts from Parambikulam Dam. It is connected to the Aliyar Dam through a series of canals and underground tunnels which connect each one of the dams in the sanctuary. The surrounding areas are excellent for bird-watching.

Parambikulam Dam is about 30 km from Aanapady Check post. Palakkad Town Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
