Panhalekazi

Also known as Pranaldurg, Panhalekazi is an archeological site 40 km from Dapoli. Like Ajanta, the caves at this place are the best examples of ancient architecture. These caves are believed to be more than 600 years old and were once inhabited by the Aryans. They are situated at the place where the rivers Kotjai and Dhakti meet. There are 29 caves, both big and small. These caves contain idols of Ganapati, Saraswati and carved pictures of horse-riders, soldiers, lord Krishna, Shankar, Nataraj, Durgadevi, Shravan, Hanuman, and Buddha.

State Transport buses ply from Mumbai, Pune and Ratnagiri to Dapoli. The nearest major railhead is Khed (125 km).
