Pangode

A rare mixture of the rural and the urban, Pangode is located midway between Vazhuthacaud and Thirumala in Thiruvananthapuram. Pangode is at a distance of around 12 km from the Trivandrum International Airport and 6 km from the Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station and Bus station. The area is significant since it houses the Pangode military camp. The Gurdwara, Mosque and Hanuman temple in the camp premises are frequented by soldiers and civilians alike. There is also a military hospital which caters to the needs of the soldiers. Pangode Kendriya Vidyalaya is located inside the military camp and it is one of the best schools in the city. The camp area is one of the favourite haunts of early morning joggers and other exercise conscious people of the locality. Pangode military camp premises are maintained beautifully by the army and remains as one of the shady, beautiful spots of Thiruvananthapuram.

The Killi river meanders through this region, blessing both sides, en route to Jagathy. The office of the Asianet, the prime cable television network, is located at Pangode. This area assumed increased significance recently with the establishment of the S.K.Hospital which has already earned a name as one of the best hospitals in the city, providing invaluable service to the city residents. Pangode is blessed by the presence of three famous temples, Kavil Bhagavathi Temple, Sri Sastha Temple and the Edapazhanji Subramanya Temple nearby. This area is a choice location because of its proximity to the Cotton Hill Girls’ High School, the Carmel Girls’ High School, and the Women’s College at Vazhuthacaud. Two major wedding halls of the city, Alakapuri at Edapazhanji Junction and Sri Moolam Club at Vazhuthacaud are within a km radius of Pangode. The main market of the city is also located at Pangode.
