Panchamukhavaadyam

Panchamukhavaadyam is a five-faced percussion instrument played during the temple festivals in South India. This instrument consists of five small drum like structures which are welded together onto a similar but larger structure. It also has floral patterns with a narrow bottom made of brass and copper. There are two brass pots adorned on either side which are secured tightly at their mouths with cowhide.

Panchamukhavaadyam is mainly played during an important ritual at the Thiruvarur temple.
