Paiks were the landed militia of
Orissa. Paiks are divided into three according to their occupation or the weapons which they mainly used. The classifications are Paharis, Banuas and Dhenkiyas. Cap and vast made of skin of the tiger or leopard, chain armor for thighs and body were their dress code.
