Our Lady of Hope Church is located on the picturesque island called Vypeen Island in Kochi. Built in 1605, this church is one of the ancient churches in Kerala. It is believed that Our Lady of Hope Church has been built at a place where a Portuguese church of 1560 was located. It is a Catholic church with gabled roof and baroque style doorways. The fourth Sunday of Lent, the day on which the statue of Our Lady is brought out, is celebrated with great importance. During the day, the statue of Our Lady will be open to the public for viewing.
The island Vypeen is well connected by ferry with
Fort Kochi and Ernakulam.
