Okra

Okra is a tender plant, which belongs to the family Malvaceae. It is cultivated throughout India for its young fruits. Pusa Sawani, Pusa Makhmali, and Perkin's Long Green are some improved varieties of this plant.

Okra requires a long warm season, and cannot withstand cold. It is adaptable to all kinds of soil, except light sandy soil. It grows widely in well-drained loamy soils. It is also known as Bhindi.
