Nirayarvali Sutra




Nirayarvali Sutra is a highly revered text of the Jain religion. The teaching and principles contained in it is followed by the shwetambar sect. This text is a part of the Jain canonical literature called Upang Agams, which provides explanation to the thoughts exerted by the primary texts called Agam Sutras.

Nirayarvali Sutra tells the story of ten princes who fought a war with King Konika, a revered figure in Jain mythology. The princes were assisted in this battle by King Chetaka, the erstwhile ruler of a kingdom called Vaishali, who also was their step-brother. However the battle was lost and the princes reached hell after their death.
