Naminath

Naminath is the 21st tirthankar among the 24 Jin Tirthankars. He was born in Mithila in Bihar to Vijay and Vapra (Vipra), the king and queen of Mithilapuri (Mathura), on the eighth day of the dark half of the month of Sravan.

On becoming his youth, Naminath was given the reign of the kingdom. After a long and peaceful reign he became an ascetic on the ninth day of the dark half of the month of Ashadh. He attained omniscience under a Bakul Tree in a garden near Mithila after nine months.

Naminath attained liberation at Samet Sikhar (Parasnath Hill) on the tenth day of the dark half of the month of Vaishakh. Jain Tirthankaras are generally identified by their symbols; Blue Lotus is the emblem of Lord Naminath. He had around 17 disciples.
