Naga Babas

Naga Babas are a category of sadhus and belong to the Shaivite sect. Naga babas used to be extremely militant, fighting with rivaling sects and later with the British. So they are also referred as the 'warrior ascetics.'

Naga babas try to resemble Lord Shiva who always used to be naked to symbolize his primal condition and non attachment to the world. Naga babas also appear naked. Babas rub their body with ashes from their holy fires as the symbol of death and rebirth. They live high up in the Himalayas.
