Muharat Puja

Muharat Puja is a special worship ceremony held on the fourth day of Diwali. This puja is performed to encourage the people to respect wealth. The Hindus, who missed the Chopda Puja or Sharda Puja, perform this puja owing to its equal prominence to the other pujas.

Muharat Puja is performed not only by the businessmen but also by other people who have source of livelihood. Since this event marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year, the old accounts are cleared and new account books are opened. Special prayers are offered to Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, to usher in more income and empowerment. The basic motive behind Muharat Puja is to teach one to respect money and use it for good motives.
