Mor Ignatius Dayaro Cathedral




Mor Ignatius Dayaro Cathedral is a famous monastery situated on the top of the hill in Manjanikkara, near Omallur in Pathanamthitta District. It serves as the seat of the Patriarchal Delegate to Malankara and the metropolitan of the Simhasana churches. The church was established by the late Mor Elias Yulius Qoro, which was later named in the blessed memory of the Patriarch Mor Ignatius Elias III who entered eternal rest with the Lord at this church in 1932. The tomb of this late Patriarch is situated here to the south side of the Holy Place. Mor Elias Yulius Qoro and Mor Yulius Yacoub, the former Patriarchal delegates to Malankara, were also inhumed in this church. Chengannur Railway Station and Thiruvalla Railway Station are the nearest railway stations. Trivandrum International Airport is the nearest airport, 119 km away.
