Modadrumdvip

Modadrumdvip, locally known as Mamagachi, is the eighth island of Navadvipa Dham. There is an interesting story associated with this place. Once, Lord Ram told Sita that he would take birth in Kali Yuga from the womb of Mother Saci, and Sita would take birth as his wife Vishnupriya. Folklore has it that Lord Ram along with Sita Devi and Lakshman has lived here during Satya Yuga.

Modadrumdvip is the birth place of Sadhananda Bhattacharya and Vrindaban dasa Thakur. Madana Gopala Temple, Vaikunthapur, Mahat Pura and Modadruma Gaudiya Math are the major attractions. Mamagachi is about one mile from the Purvasthali railway station. Navadvipa station is nearby. By road, buses ply from Navadvipa to this destination.
