Meypporul Nayanar




Meypporul Nayanar was a pious king who ruled over the hill tribes of Sethi. The king is a ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. He served all the Shiva devotee. Story says that there was peace and plenty in his kingdom. All the people over there considered the king as living god. Knowing the kingdom's fame Muthanathan the neighbouring state's king wanted to conquer the place. But he was defeated several times. Muthanathan came to know the king's weakness and disguished himself to a Shiva yogi. He went into the king's bedroom without any hastle telling that he want to convey some secret mantra to the king. Even the king's wife was not allowed. The king was stabbed by the Muthanathan. Seeing this the door keeper Dathan wanted to kill Muthanathan. But the king didn't allow him to kill Muthanathan as he had the appearance of Shiva yogi and wanted Dathan to escort him till the border of the kingdom. Dathan obeyed his order and conveyed the message to the dying king. Lord Shiva appeared before the king and gave blessings.
