Lord Agni, the god of fire, is often portrayed with two heads in Hindu mythology, showing his dual nature of heavenly light and fire. He is mounted on a ‘mesha’ (ram), which is his ‘vahana’ (vehicle). Sitting on this ram, which is a symbol of fearlessness and heroisms, he journeys through the heaven.
In some episodes of Hindu mythology, Lord Agni is shown traveling on a chariot pulled by goats. He is therefore also known by the name Chagaratha, where ‘chaga’ means goat and ‘ratha’ means chariot.
