Mayyazhi Puzha

Mayyazhi Puzha originates from the forests on the western slopes of the Wayanad Hills, which form part of the Western Ghats. The river has a total length of 54 km and a drainage area of 394 sq km. The river flows through the villages of Naripetta, Vanimel, Iringanoor, Tripangathur, Peringalam, Edachery, Kacheri, Eramala, Kariyad, Olavilam, Kunnumakkara and Azhiyoor. Mahe, the former French settlement, is the place where the river merges with the Arabian Sea. Hence it is also known as the Mahe River.
