The cultural representation of Germany in
Mumbai, Max Mueller Bhavan is located at
Kala Ghoda - south of
Fort. Named after the famous German indologist, Max Muller, its mission is to promote international cultural cooperation by organizing a variety of events to present German culture.
The center conducts German language courses, workshops, exhibitions and a host of other activities intended to enhance the cultural cooperation between the two nations. Since 2001, there is a guest-lecturer of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Mumbai, who is also running an Information and Consulting Centre for Indian students interested in pursuing their higher studies in Germany.
The information center is a resource center for those interested in contemporary Germany and for those interested in teaching and studying German as a foreign language. The library houses more than 7,000 books, videos and audiocassettes.
