Matsyakshi is an annual, prostrate weed naturalized in various ecological niches, from ponds to dry roadsides.
The plant is considered a galactagogue, cholagogue, abortifacient and febrifuge. The leaves are added to spinach and soups. It is also an ingredient of ointments for acne and pimples. The leaves are good in indigestion.
