Matha Range




Matha Range lies in the border of Srirampore in Purulia District. Covered with thick vegetation and dense forests, the range is the abode of wild animals. Farming and hunting are the main activities of local tribes near the range. Purulia Chhou is one of the dance drama traditions that is widely practiced among the tribes.

Accommodation facilities are available in the nearby forest guesthouse or at the Flight-to Harmony Foundation guesthouse. Pakhipahar is an 800 ft granite hill in the Matha Range of hills. The best season to visit is during the months of February and March.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, the nearest airport at Dum Dum, connects Kolkata with other parts of the country. The nearest railway station is Barabhum Railway Station.
