Maruthorvattom




Maruthorvattom is a rural village located close to Muhamma on Cherthala-Alappuzha Road, Alappuzha District. In ancient times, this village was famous for ayurvedic treatments. Maruthorvattom is believed to have been blessed with the presence of Vagbhatta, the great saint who penned the famous Ashtanga Hridaya. There is an ancient temple here named Dhanwanthari Temple. Thousands of devotees throng to Maruthorvattom during the major festival of the temple. Kuttanad, the paradise of nature lovers, is easily accessible from here. Cochin International Airport is about 90 km away from the village and the nearest railway station is Alappuzha Railway Station.
