Marine Drive

Marine Drive, also named Netaji Subhash Road, is an upturned 'C' shaped 6 lane road along the coast of Arabian Sea in south Mumbai. One of Mumbai's most beautiful and busiest road, it is wedged between Arabian Sea and a row of art deco buildings.

This 3 km long concrete road has a beautiful promenade lined with palm trees. The promenade is a place for people to enjoy the evenings and the sunset. Taraporewala Aquarium is located nearby.

Marine Drive is popularly known as the Queen's Necklace because it resembles a string of pearls if viewed from an elevated point anywhere along the drive at night. The beauty of the drive is most enjoyed from Walkeswar or Hanging Gardens, the neighborhood hills at the foot of Marine Drive road. Chowpatty Beach, a popular beach famous for its Bhel Puri (local fast food), is at the northern end of Marine Drive.
