Mangrove Pitta (Pitta megarhyncha) is a medium sized bird of about 20 cm in length, which superficially resembles the Indian Pitta. It is a local resident of the
Sunderbans. Its habitat extends to Southern Myanmar, Malay Peninsula and Sumatra.
The bird has a dark eye-stripe, whitish throat and a long bill. It has a characteristic rufous-brown crown. The upperparts are darker green, while the wing patch is very large and is obvious in flight. Juveniles have brownish green upperparts.
Mangrove Pitta can be seen in the Sunderbans National Park, West Bengal.
