Mandrill, an omnivorous animal, lives in rain forests with little ground cover. The color of the coat ranges from dark brown to olive gray. The adult male has a bright red nose, and blue cheeks and a blue rump.
Mandrill forms groups consisting of an adult male, several females, and young ones. It eats small animals including spiders, snails, worms, ants, and small ground vertebrates. Also feed on grasses, herbs, shoots, bark, fruits and tubers.
