Mahavakyas (meaning great sentences) are the six great maxims of Indian Philosophy. All the teachings in the
Upanishads are summed up in the six Mahavakyas.
They are, 'I am
Brahman' (Aham Brahmasmi), 'The Self is Brahman' (Ayam Atma Brahma), 'That thou art' (Tattvam asi), 'Intelligence is Brahman'(Prajnanam Brahma), 'The Universe is Brahman' (Sarvam Khalvidam Brahma), and 'He am I' (So'ham).
