Mahamuni Thaan is located in
Darrang District and is near
Majbat. 'Thaan' is a place of worship. In the beginning, it might be just a tree or stone but in course of time it is transformed into a place of institutional worship.
Mahamuni Thaan is associated with Buddhism and is the only place in the district where Buddhist Stupas are seen. A metal statue of Lord Ram is another interesting aspect here. The spot is also noted for its scenic surroundings.
