Madhuka (Madhuca indica) is a large deciduous tree grown throughout India. It is characterized by short trunk, spreading branches and large rounded crown. It is also known as Mahua and Moha.
Flowers and bark have medicinal properties and are used to cure bronchitis, rheumatism, diabetes, piles, orchitis, tonsillitis and eczema. The plant is also reported to be a tonic, galactagogue and astringent. The flowers are considered as a source of alcohol and are also eaten as a vegetable. Leaves, flowers and fruit are good fodder for cattle.
