Madanlal Dingra, a revolutionary freedom fighter, was born in 1887 in
Amritsar District of
Punjab. All except him in the family was loyal to the British. Dingra earned his graduation from Punjab University and left for England in 1906 for pursuing higher education.
A follower of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Dingra was highly influenced by the heroic deeds of Khudiram Bose and Kanailal. He was also associated with Indian Home Rule Society and the Abhinava Bharat Society.
On 1 July 1909, Dingra shot Sir Curzon Wylie and Cowas Lalcaca at the annual meeting of the Indian National Association in Imperial Institute, London. As a result, Dingra was captured and hanged on 17 August 1909.
