Lord Sanamahi Temple

Lord Sanamahi Temple is an ancient shrine located in the first Manipur Rifle Ground, Imphal. It is believed to have been built by king Kulachandra in 1891. This temple was constructed particularly to enshrine the animistic deity - Lord Sanamahi.

This temple is also noted for its architectural diversity. The entire structure looks like the Baptistery type with Gothic roof. The temple is raised on an octagonal base. There is a rectangular door in front of the temple. A porch connected with the sanctum hall is on the eastern side of the temple. Some parts of the temple also conform to the Niagara style of architecture.

A big festival, known as Cheiraoba, held at the temple is a major draw. Honjnungha is another festival celebrated here in the month of September.

Imphal Airport is the nearest airport, 8 km south of town center. Dimapur Railway Station is the nearest railhead, 215 km away.
