Worship of the planet Chandra or Moon is said to be beneficial to get relief from all sorrows. Chandra is held in the head locks of Lord Shiva, so all devotees who worship Siva have also to worship this planet.
Chandra is considered as the mother who radiates the sacred nectar (Amrut), causes nightfall, strengthens the mind, and purifies the blood. The planet also helps in curing mental afflictions. To get one's prayers answered, it is better to worship Chandra on Mondays.
