Lineated Barbet (Megalaima lineata) is a medium sized bird (28 cm), with thick yellowish bill and mostly dark brown head and breast with broad whitish streaks.
It has broad yellow orbital skin, whitish cheeks to throat, whitish streaks on upper mantle, and whitish dark streaks extending into the belly. The bird inhabits deciduous forest, scattered trees in open areas, coastal scrub, and plantations.
Nest is usually excavated in a tree hole and two to four white eggs are laid.
The bird is found near regions close to the Himalayas, East and North East India.
