Leja Song

Leja song has a prominent place in the surrounding villages of Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh. The Leja has its origin from the 'send off' ritual to some dear one. The word 'Leja' literally means 'take it'. Any subject could be the theme of the Leja songs. The rhyming lines of Leja songs serve as a relic and could be recited to unfold any song. These songs are mostly sung by the Bhatra and the Panka tribes.
