Ledo Road

Stillwell Road



Ledo Road is a historic road constructed during the World War-II in 1942. It was built under the direction of U.S Army General Joseph Stillwell. It starts from Ledo Railway Station at Ledo in Tinsukia District of Assam. The road connects to Kunming in China passing through Lekhapani, Jairampur, Nampong, Pangsau pass (India-Myanmar border) and Myanmar.

The road has a total length of 1726 km, in which it lies in India about 61 km. Initially known as Ledo Road, the road was renamed as Stillwell Road after Joseph Warren Stilwell.
